Router Configuration Reflection

Setting up the wireless router turned out to be much easier than I’d anticipated. We used both  phone and PC to access the router’s settings, which made the process simple and flexible. After connecting to the router, I just typed the default IP address into a browser and logged in with the default credentials. From there, I could easily change the Wi-Fi name, set a strong password, and adjust basic settings like security and network preferences.

Using both devices was actually really convenient—I could make changes on my phone while moving around, and use the PC for a clearer view of the settings. Overall, the whole setup was quick and straightforward, and it gave me a lot more confidence in managing my own network.

Computer Network Campus-Based Observation Reflection

During our visit to the principal’s office building, we got an up-close look at how the network is set up. There was a Globe router/modem connecting the building to the internet, and we also saw the telephone system integrated into the network, so voice communication runs through it as well. A TP-Link router was there, too, providing wireless access for all the devices in the office. Seeing this setup made me realize just how essential these devices are in keeping everything connected and running smoothly.

This experience gave me a much better understanding of how different parts of a network work together. Each device plays a specific role—whether it’s providing internet access or enabling communication—and all these pieces are crucial to a well-functioning network. It was a really valuable, hands-on lesson in how computer networks are built and maintained, and it definitely sparked my curiosity to learn more about how they operate.

Reflection of the Philippines Army symposium

Reflecting on the symposium, I realized how difficult it is to maintain a government free of corruption. This struggle contributed to the rise of groups like the New People's Army (NPA), which initially claimed to serve the people selflessly. However, their movement later turned violent, involving unjustified killings and opposition to the government.

Ate Chenchen's story, a former NPA member, left a profound impact on me. Her experiences were filled with violence and cruelty, and her recounting of those events was deeply unsettling.

I also learned that financial challenges don't have to block one's path to education. A teacher who rose from poverty to success through determination showed that hard work can overcome even the most difficult circumstances.

Set-up WIFI connection

 1. Router name: Wi-Fight the Inevitable

2. How to login:

To log in to your router, follow these general steps:

  1. Connect to the Network: Make sure your device is connected to the router's Wi-Fi network or directly via an Ethernet cable.

  2. Open a Web Browser: Launch any web browser on your device.

  3. Enter the Router's IP Address: In the address bar, type the router's IP address. Common ones include:

    • 192.168.1.1
    • 192.168.0.1
    • 10.0.0.1
  4. Enter Login Credentials: Once the router's login page loads, enter the username and password. If you haven't changed these, the default credentials are often:

    • Username: admin
    • Password: admin or password

(Check your router’s manual or the label on the router for specifics.)

  5. Access the Settings: After logging in, you’ll be able to configure settings like Wi-Fi name, password, and more.

Tips:

  • If you can’t remember your login credentials, you may need to reset the router to factory settings. This usually involves holding down a reset button for a certain period.
  • Make sure to secure your router by changing the default login credentials once you’re in!

Let me know if you need help with anything specific!

TYPES OF TOPOLOGY

MESH TOPOLOGY - is a network configuration where devices are interconnected in a decentralized manner. Instead of relying on a central hub or switch, each device connects directly to multiple other devices, forming a mesh-like structure.

STAR TOPOLOGY - A star topology is a network design where all devices are connected to a central hub or switch, and messages are passed to the central core that, in turn, passes the message to either all other systems or the specific destination system depending on the network design.

BUS TOPOLOGY - is a type of network topology in which all devices are connected to a single cable called a "bus." This cable serves as a shared communication medium, allowing all devices on the network to receive the same signal simultaneously.

RING TOPOLOGY - is a network design where connected devices form a circular data channel. Each networked device is linked to two more ones by two points on a circle. A ring network is a collective term for the devices arranged in a ring topology.

HYBRID TOPOLOGY - is an interconnection of two or more basic network topologies, each of which contains its own nodes. The resulting interconnection allows the nodes in a given basic topology to communicate with other nodes in the same basic topology as well as those in other basic topologies within the hybrid topology.
