Reflecting on the symposium, I realized how difficult it is to maintain a government free of corruption. This struggle contributed to the rise of groups like the New People's Army (NPA), which initially claimed to serve the people selflessly. However, their movement later turned violent, involving unjustified killings and opposition to the government.
Ate Chenchen's story, a former NPA member, left a profound impact on me. Her experiences were filled with violence and cruelty, and her recounting of those events was deeply unsettling.
I also learned that financial challenges don't have to block one's path to education. A teacher who rose from poverty to success through determination showed that hard work can overcome even the most difficult circumstances.
